6 Reasons Why You Should Consider Having Bridal Portraits Taken

Contrary to popular belief, bridal portraits are a tradition in some parts of the country- mostly in the south. Displaying your bridal portraits next to those of your mother and grandmother is a truly special experience - think about how happy your female relatives will be! Like engagement photos, your bridal portrait session will help you get even more comfortable in front of the camera so you’re sure to slay your wedding-day photos, too.

Here are 6 reasons why you should consider having bridal portraits taken.

Reason 1: Setting The Stage By Taking Your Time

The day of your wedding is controlled by a strict timeline. It’s very important that your photographer commits to the wedding day agenda so that all of your wedding festivities stay on schedule. This means your photographer has to move relatively quickly to capture the photos on your wedding shot list. By having a bridal portrait session taken before the wedding day your photographer can spend more time on the shoot. They will be able to take their time to take a lot of photos and give you options to choose from. By moving at a slower, relaxed pace will help you feel more at ease and allow you to try out many different poses.

Reason 2: Testing, Testing, Testing . . . One, Two, Three

A bridal portrait session is actually a great way to do a test run for your wedding day. Its the perfect time to see how your entire bridal ensemble, which includes gown, hair, makeup, accessories) all come together so you can see the overall look of how you’ll present yourself to your future husband and your guests. At that time, you can make any necessary adjustments before the wedding day. We also think this is a time to have you move around in your wedding gown and make any tailored adjustments. In addition, it’s a great opportunity to do a bouquet test run as well. Have your florist make up a mock wedding bouquet for you to use during your portraits, that way you can make sure it is exactly what you wanted.

Reason 3: Its All About Location, Location, Location

Imagine if you took your bridals on the actual wedding day. How chaotic would that be? Having your bridal portraits taken before your wedding gives you so much more flexibility. On your wedding day, your photographer will be somewhat limited with where they can photograph you -- they will want to keep you hidden from guests and from your groom before the wedding. Having your portraits taken before the wedding day gives you full advantage of your entire wedding venue. Your photos will have so much more diversity to them. You can also have your photos taken somewhere other than your wedding venue if you would like however we like to photograph our brides at the wedding venue. That way you can adapt to the wedding day environment before the wedding.

Reason 4: Chill Out On Your Wedding Day

No bride should feel stressed out on their wedding day. You will feel so much more at ease posing for photos on your wedding day by having a bridal portrait session beforehand. So by that time, you’ll have a better grasp on what to expect and know which poses are more flattering. And most of all, you’ll feel very comfortable working with your photographer at that point.

Reason 5: A Great Way to Show Off Your Portrait at the Reception

Could you imagine showing the best shot from your bridal portrait session at the reception? We sure do! The reception is the best opportunity to display one or two of the best images. You can work with your photographer to choose your favorite bridal portrait. They can assist you with print and framing so that it can be a focal point at your wedding reception. Guests will absolutely love it!

Reason 6: The Best of Both Worlds

Today’s wedding photographer is just about photography. We at White Tiaré Weddings shoot both photo and cinematic film also known as hybrid-photography. While you’re posing in front of the camera for photos, we switch things up and direct you to move a certain way to capture cinematic footage. We then piece it all together to music creating a cinematic story of your bridal portrait session. And to add to the excitement, we love to show these images and cinematic film on our mobile flat-screen TV at the reception.
